Overview
The Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences at Utah State University is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as an adjunct instructor for ADVS 3000 - Animal Health and Hygiene during the Fall 2025 semester, with the possibility of continuation into the Spring 2026 term. This is a temporary, non-benefited position offering the opportunity to engage undergraduate students in a hands-on, applied learning environment focused on farm animal health

Course Description:
ADVS 3000 introduces students to the basic principles of disease, with an emphasis on common agents, mechanisms, and preventive measures relevant to farm animals. The course includes asynchronous online lectures and an in-person, hands-on lab component.

On-site instruction is required one day per week (Thursdays) at the USU South Farm in Wellsville, UT.

Fall semester begins August 25, 2025. The applicant should be available by August 11, 2025 to begin preparations.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver lecture content asynchronously using USU's Canvas learning platform.
  • Lead two in-person lab sections (each with approximately 20 students) on Thursdays at the USU South Farm in Wellsville, UT.
  • Collaborate with an assigned graduate teaching assistant to coordinate labs, provide instruction, and assist with logistics and grading.
  • Maintain course materials, respond to student inquiries, and evaluate student performance.
  • Participate in periodic check-ins with departmental instructional staff as needed.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A DVM, or
  • An MS in Animal Science (or related field) with a focus on animal health, or
  • A BS in Animal Science (or related field) with substantial industry experience in animal health.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience.

Professional Development:
  • USU offers instructional design support and training for adjunct faculty in effective use of Canvas and online teaching tools.
