*Professional Summary* The Insurance Claims Collection Specialist plays a crucial role in reviewing and resolving unpaid or underpaid insurance claims, with a focus on Medicare and Medicaid accounts. This fast-paced, production-based role requires an analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to claim adjustments. Specialists must be adept at navigating payer systems, communicating with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), and ensuring that outstanding revenue is accurately collected through systematic follow-up and resolution strategies.
*Key Responsibilities* * Conduct root cause analysis of denied or underpaid claims, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions. * Research, follow up, and resolve outstanding Medicare system debit balances through various means, including remit and EOB reviews, rebilling claims, and payer portal navigation. * Contact insurance payers, including MACs, to reconcile accounts, initiate collections, and request adjustments. * Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure accurate claims processing and resolution. * Maintain precise documentation of claim actions, communications, and resolutions using clear and effective written communication. * Stay informed of healthcare reimbursement policies, regulatory updates, and payer-specific guidelines. * Establish and sustain positive working relationships with clinical personnel, payer representatives, and internal teams. * Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and ensuring timely claim resolutions while maintaining professionalism. * Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies, maintaining strict confidentiality of patient and company information. * Demonstrate consistent attendance and reliability, contributing to team success and productivity. *Qualifications* * Minimum of 6 months of insurance collections experience, with proven ability to communicate directly with insurance companies and utilize provider portals for claims resolution. * Strong preference for Medicare or Medicaid collections experience. * High school diploma or equivalent (GED). * Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. * Competency in computer operations, including typing, basic troubleshooting, and system navigation. * Ability to critically analyze and resolve root causes of claim underpayments through problem-solving techniques. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
