Job Summary

The Maricopa Community Colleges Enterprise Performance Office has an opportunity for a Project Manager Senior!

This opportunity leads high-level and impactful projects through all phases of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out. Responsibilities include managing project timelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, maintaining project documentation, and delivering clear reports and presentations. This role is key in driving strategic outcomes and supporting enterprise-wide success for Maricopa Community Colleges.

Essential Functions

45% - Leads, coordinates, and/or provides support to complex, oftentimes system-wide, politically sensitive projects:
  • Serves as the designated subject matter expert for projects' status, progression, and challenges, and manages cross-functional project teams.
  • Facilitates the development of project scope with project sponsor(s) and stakeholders.
  • Identifies and facilitates the development of project objectives, milestones, schedule, and overall project plan.
  • Develops and delivers communications, materials, training, and presentations.
  • Interacts with key stakeholders and keeps them informed on project progress.
  • Facilitates meetings with project sponsors, key stakeholders.

25% - Monitors, tracks, and reports on project deliverables:
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation and provides project status updates.
  • Composes, reviews, and finalizes original comprehensive reports and documents.
  • Addresses project issues and risk scenarios; provides recommended solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Tracks lessons learned.

15% - Utilizes change management techniques to ensure successful adoption of project outcomes and/or other system-wide initiatives:
  • Recommends and executes strategies for communicating, socializing, and managing organizational change

10% - Develops and monitors project budgets and related expenditures
  • Ensures projects are accomplished in accordance with established specifications and funding requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with vendors, contractors, and procurement and fiscal departments as needed.

5% - Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of project management coordination and experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Current project management certification (PMP, CAPM, etc.)
2. Three years of experience working in higher education, preferably within a community college system
3. Three years of experience writing content for professional communications (official emails, reports, presentations, website content, etc.)
4. Three years of experience leading complex projects with large stakeholder groups
5. Three years of experience utilizing change management techniques within projects

Special Working Conditions
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
  • May be required to work at multiple sites or locations
  • May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor
  • Work hours during summer are 10 hours, between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday-Thursday
  • Work hours during fall/spring are 8 hours, between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday-Friday
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://business.maricopa.edu/risk-management/motor-vehicle-usage/motor-vehicle-driving-requirements
