Student Involvement

Job Description

The Student Engagement Manager plays a vital role in enhancing co-curricular engagement by advising the Student Union Board (SUB), supporting over 200 student organizations, and leading the development and execution of department-owned programs and summer initiatives. This position is central to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive campus environment, significantly influencing student life and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advisory and Program Development: Serve as the primary advisor for the Student Union Board (SUB), providing guidance on program development and supporting student leaders in achieving their personal and professional goals. Work closely with student organizations to develop engaging, impactful programming aligned with campus priorities
  • Support and Compliance for Student Organizations: Oversee compliance and recognition processes for student organizations. Deliver targeted training on organizational leadership, financial responsibility, and event planning. Offer consistent support and consultation to ensure successful and sustainable student-led initiatives
  • Department-Owned Program Production: Lead the planning and execution of department-sponsored events and initiatives, including campus traditions and new programming efforts that support the university's engagement mission. Responsibilities include concept development, contract negotiation, risk management, and coordination with campus partners
  • Summer Programming Oversight: Direct the creation and implementation of summer programs, ensuring continuity of student engagement and providing opportunities for connection and involvement during the summer term
  • Large-Scale Campus Event Coordination: Coordinate major campus events such as MinerRama, Spring O'Rama, and portions of O-Week. Manage all aspects of event planning including budgeting, scheduling, staffing, logistics, and vendor coordination to deliver impactful student experiences
  • Communication and Event Management: Support communication efforts related to student programming and events. Provide guidance on tools such as the eConnection newsletter, social media, and emerging platforms like podcasts and MS Teams to enhance awareness and participation
  • Community Support and Intervention Coordination: Collaborate with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) to support community engagement advisors and interventions that enhance student well-being and involvement
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Division of Student Success
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,223 to $54,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
