POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an HVAC Tech II supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley - Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.
- The HVAC Technician ll will provide skilled labor to repair, maintenance and installation of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Analyze faults of equipment malfunctions and determining repairs.
- Make adjustments or replacing, inspect and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, exhaust fans, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (both DDC & Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration and automated control systems.
- Lubricate and clean motors.
- Adjust and calibrate controls.
- Inspect, test, and verify operation of controls and safety devices and installing new or replacement HVAC units and components.
- Perform other general HVAC maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay rate:$35.20 hourly
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong working knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair and replacement of HVAC equipment.
- Ability to inspect and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (both DOC & Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration and automated control systems.
- Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently with little or no supervision.
- Proficient in the use of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools, as well as service manuals and all diagnostic equipment related to the trade.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments. Ability to operate all required equipment.
- Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have Universal CFC Certification.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English both orally and writing with internal and external clients and co-workers.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Must be a steady, reliable worker.
- Able to read simple instructions and follow simple diagrams.
- Able to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.
- General knowledge of simple equipment used in the building trades.
- Knowledge of acceptable maintenance services including occupational safety and health regulations.
- One (1) year certificate from college or technical school.
- Three (3) to six (6) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
- As a condition of employment, candidates must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
- As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
