Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Restorative Sciences Department is an internationally recognized group of oral health professionals that combines three divisions consisting of general dentistry, operative dentistry, and prosthodontics. The department supports the dental education program, advanced education programs in prosthodontics and general dentistry along with master's degree programs (including operative dentistry), community service and outreach, faculty practice and scholarship activities. |
Position Summary |
The primary purpose of this position is to support the students, residents and program directors in the provision of the restorative lab procedures, protocols and cases. This will include serving as the main contact for students and their patients to manage lab process and procedural issues. The position will also provide program support to the program directors as needed in the didactic restorative curriculum. This position will also complete tasks as directed by the Department Chair. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and two years related work experience; or completion of a two year dental laboratory technology training program; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Knowledge in the use of dental implants and digital computer modeling is essential. The successful candidate will be skilled in multiple facets of dental technology, including restorative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics. These skills include, but are not limited to, standard laboratory procedures including:
- Additive manufacturing with resins
- Subtractive manufacturing with ceramics
- Design and fabrication of crown and bridgework
- Repair of complete and partial dentures

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Progressive experience with creative laboratory solutions for complex cases and operations. Training and proficiency in various digital design platforms. Strong business acumen and mentoring experience. Good verbal and written communication.
Experience with digital dentistry Certified Dental Technician preferred |

Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move up to 25 pounds. Push rolling carts occasionally as required for event set up. |
