Position summary This employee is responsible for analyzing various accounts, performing budget to actual cost comparisons, researching overruns, internal billing procedures and generating various reports. Work is checked during preparation processes and this employee is supervised by the Budget Manager. 1 - 3 years ( 2 years of experience means 2 years of experience performing this or a similar role) Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Description
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties listed are what is expected of the role of someone fully proficient and are listed most important to least important by categories of job duties.) Examples: Administrative & Client/Customer Support
- Handles confidential information with discretion and diplomacy
Research and Analysis
- Creates and maintains intermediate to moderately complex spreadsheets and databases and prepares reports, tables, charts.
- Researches, monitors, and analyzes data to produce business insights and action recommendations relevant to proposed business development
- To assist the Budget Manager in the preparation of financial reports.

- To analyze various general ledger accounts.

- Prepares internal billing, tracks special services usage and tracks temporary service usage.

- Maintain work papers, schedules and other detailed information, as required.

- Has working knowledge of input into computer programs for the general ledger and financial statements.

- Assists at year end to include preparing schedules, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures and preparing any other necessary data.
- Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. Updates records as necessary.

- May prepare monthly financial statements to include preparation of monthly report on changes in financial position/budget variances. Maintains related records.

- Prepares budget/actual payroll hours comparisons and researches

- Audits and proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy and conformance to departmental and state procedures.

- Assists departmental personnel with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation and other accounting-related activities.

- Assists with budget preparation, documentation gathering.

- Performs other related duties as required.
- QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of accounting practices and techniques.

- Knowledge of policies and procedures of the Fiscal office.

- Ability to properly operate office equipment to perform duties.

- Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work accurately, to make difficult mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance, ability to operate calculator by touch.

- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical terminology.

- Ability to examine and verify financial documents and reports.

- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

- Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements, reports and analyses.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

- Ability to learn and apply special governmental rules and regulations regarding accounting and auditing practices.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and exert 10lbs of force occasionally.
