The Job

High School Interns (internally known as Business Interns) work in various departments within an organization to gain hands-on experience and exposure to different aspects of business operations. They assist with tasks such as data analysis, market research, project management, and administrative duties. Business Interns also have the opportunity to work on special projects and collaborate with team members to contribute to the overall success of the organization. This role provides valuable learning experiences and networking opportunities for individuals seeking to enter the business world.

You Will

Learns organizational processes and procedures.

Contributes to assigned projects and may assist with the development and maintenance of documentation or records.

Learns internal software systems

Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks (e.g., filing, data entry, organizing materials) as assigned

Shadow professionals in various departments to learn about operations and roles

Attend meetings, take notes, and contribute ideas

Conduct basic research and summarize findings

Help plan and support events, presentations, or projects

Logs basic issues for escalation

Your Qualifications



  • Must be a high school student with California Work Permit (or ability to obtain one for your particular state before start date)
  • Must be the dependent of a current SCAN employee or employee of a SCAN care delivery asset
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Responsible, punctual, and eager to learn
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Communication Skills: Professional email and phone etiquette
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Respect for diverse opinions and backgrounds
  • Initiative & Motivation: Showing interest and enthusiasm for learning
  • Dependability & Responsibility: Being on time and prepared
  • Professionalism: Showing maturity and positive attitude

  • Base Pay Range: $17.50/hour up to 20 hours a week
  • Work Mode: Mostly Onsite (For those local to the Long Beach, CA office- 2 times a week on Tuesday and Wednesday), or Mostly Remote (For those not local)
