Consumer Loan Underwriter Underwrite requests for all consumer/mortgage products in all footprints states with loan decisions made within assigned lending authority. Position Responsibilities:
- Expert knowledge in the review and validation of application data and background in fraud detection techniques.
- Reviews and researches data provided by credit bureaus and other third- party vendors relative to FACTA alerts and fraud Red Flags.
- Strong knowledge of the use of background checks in the loan decision process.
- Completion of Collateral Checklist and higher- level knowledge related to the appraisal review process and ability to identify issues to be escalated.
- General understanding of traditional loan group analysis.
- Higher level of expertise in the cash flow analysis for traditional wage earners and self-employed borrowers using pre-determined tools based on loan size.
- With the assistance of a Senior Underwriter, understand, prepare and present external exception documentation and/or review for exception consideration within Consumer Loan Center.
- Ensures that loan decisions and recommendations comply with Fair Lending requirements.
- Ensures loan quality requirements are met.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years of experience in underwriting
- 3 years of experience in customer service
- 3 years of experience working with a Consumer / Mortgage Loan Origination System
- 1 year of experience with Microsoft office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; personal computer; system data entry or Internet search
Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days
Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
