Position Description To supervise the team responsible for the operation of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation & control equipment at the Combustion Turbine sites and ensure optimum generating capabilities. Oversee overall operation of UES Electric combustion turbine resources. Supervises union employees and ensure compliant with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Ability to travel long distances and accommodate overnight stays to achieve needed results at the more remote generating stations. Responsible for multiple assets in different regulatory environments and requirements. This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. Position-Related Responsibilities * Authorized and is responsible to hire, promote, assign, and direct staff. Supervises employees and monitors activities; including safety, prioritizing workflow allocation, staffing/scheduling, and performance reviews. * Provides direction to employees; resolves technical questions and employee relation issues to provide accurate and consistent direction and interpretations. Completes employee performance review prior to due date; provides feedback to employees during mid-cycle updates; provides direction to employees; monitors workflow to minimize backlog and customer complaints. * Applies knowledge of assigned area and overall combustion turbine processes to resolve maintenance and operations problems. * Coordinates work at the combustion turbine sites with TPP Operations, Chemistry, Planning, Safety, Environmental Maintenance, and Engineering. * Must be able to personally respond to combustion turbine emergencies, which will also include call outs as needed to support combustion turbine operations. Must be willing to work both rotating and standard shifts, as required, with periodic shift changes. * Reviews area operations to identify processes/procedures/operations improvements. Resolves problems considering time, equipment and tools/materials costs. * Provides, recognizes and anticipates employee training needs to ensure that all team employees have skills necessary to ensure competency in all aspects of the job. * Monitors the economic operations of all equipment and takes corrective action as necessary to maintain optimum efficiency. * Have a basic understanding of what Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) is and how it applies to the equipment. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain CIP certifications. * Basic understanding of FERC / NERC requirements related to combustion turbine generation sites. Coordinate FERC / NERC requirements as needed. * Supports the execution of loads/requirements regarding generation limits and switching procedures of the system. * Administers the Protective Clearance Procedure (LOTO) at the combustion turbine sites. * Oversees and directs all combustion turbine activities, including maintenance functions, at times when other supervisory personnel are not on duty. * Identifies viable alternatives and plans activities to limit time delays, equipment downtime and load reduction. Demonstrates knowledge of combustion turbine processes by considering potential impact of all activities. * Establishes and maintains appropriate records and recordkeeping systems. * Maintains accurate and up-to-date personnel, budget and job cost information. Estimates costs and analyzes actual cost variances from budget and explains differences. * This is a safety sensitive position. * Support and communicate Operational Excellence goals, objectives, vision and values.
Management Responsibilities * Ensure that the Company's management principles, policies and programs are consistently practiced and continually support the Affirmative Action Plan. * Assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and provide recommendations on cost improvement measures. * Ensure that the Performance Management program is administered uniformly and effectively. * Comply with and administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement when applicable. * Administers personnel functions review and approval of job descriptions and selection and placement of personnel. Participates in hiring, termination, promoting, assignment and direction of staff. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards, company policies, practices and ethical obligations to investigate, evaluate and recommend appropriate resolution to employee complaints. * Promotes and participates in the professional development, personal growth and career planning of staff. Motivate, recognize and reward, coach, counsel, train; provide feedback to employees during performance reviews. Participates in Leadership Development programs. * Addresses disciplinary and/or performance issues, according to company policy, and communicates effectively with employees regarding corrective action. Has input into the adjustment of grievances and administration of discipline. * Plans day-to-day operations, estimates personnel needs and schedules and assigns work. Evaluate the structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
