Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Service and Mentorship is responsible for cultivating a vibrant culture of Christ-centered service and mentorship within the Lipscomb community. This unique, dual-campus position will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and sustaining meaningful service opportunities and mentorship initiatives that support the spiritual, social, and leadership development of students from K-12 through college. This role facilitates local and national service opportunities that align with the mission of the university and its commitment to spiritual formation. The coordinator collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to create impactful service and mentoring experiences that promote holistic development, spiritual growth, and civic engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Service:
- Design and implement age-appropriate service initiatives for students at both Lipscomb Academy and Lipscomb University.
- Partner with local nonprofits, ministries, and community organizations to develop sustainable service partnerships.
- Coordinate annual and semester-long service events, drives, and immersion experiences.
- Coordinate mission trips for the Academy
- Facilitate reflection components that help students connect service with faith, vocation, and personal growth.
- Develop and oversee service programs that integrate faith, learning, and service.
- Coordinate and support regular service opportunities (weekly, monthly, annual) for students, including partnerships with local ministries, nonprofits, and global mission organizations.
- Work closely with campus departments, student leaders, missions and external partners to identify needs and create service initiatives.
- Promote and facilitate student participation in service activities, including orientation events, service days, mission trips, and alternative break programs.
- Provide training and reflection resources to help students understand the theological and cultural implications of Christian service.
- Maintain accurate records of student involvement and assess the effectiveness of service programs.
- Assist with budget planning, fundraising initiatives, and logistics for local and travel- based service experiences.
- Serve as a spiritual mentor and resource to students engaging in service.
Mentoring:
- Create and manage mentorship programs that foster relationships across age groups and demographics.
- Recruit, train, and support mentors and mentees, ensuring meaningful and accountable relationships.
- Collaborate with faculty, coaches, and staff to integrate mentorship into existing student life and academic frameworks.
- Maintain accurate records of student involvement and assess the effectiveness of mentorship programs.
- Assist with budget planning, fundraising initiatives, and logistics for mentorship programs
Other:
- Support other initiatives of the Office of Spiritual Formation, including chapel programming and campus ministry events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Spiritual Formation.
Qualifications:
- A deep, mature Christian faith and commitment to the mission of Lipscomb University.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2+ years of experience in service coordination, student development, missions, or ministry.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, spiritually focused environment.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and experience with diverse populations.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in global missions or cross-cultural service leadership.
- Training in spiritual formation or discipleship practices.
- Familiarity with service-learning pedagogy.
- Cultural competence and a heart for diverse communities and students
- Cross-generational ministry or education experience.
