Position Overview

QinetiQ US is hiring a Naval Power Requirements & Capabilities Strategic Manager with significant experience pursuing and winning new business in the Aerospace and Defense market to be the senior source of capture excellence within the Naval Power R&C team. The Manager will lead and drive business development for our Solutions business to support our Navy and Marine Corps customers. The Manager will be responsible for identifying, shaping, qualifying, capturing, and growing new opportunities and capabilities through our QWIN process.

The portfolio includes QinetiQ's design fabrication, rapid prototyping, and technology integration for various Navy platforms including aircraft carriers, ships, and submarines. QinetiQ also provides C4ISR and combat systems solutions and supports the development and deployment of technologies like EMALS and AAG for aircraft carriers. Additionally, QinetiQ offers training and support services for U.S. Navy training ranges. This individual must be a self-starter, driven, understand customer requirements / operational needs and be able to translate those to solutions, have experience in business capture in addition to business development with a proven track record to deliver business results. The candidate must be experienced in the technical, programmatic, and operational challenges of developing, deploying, and sustaining complex technologies, software, and hardware for defense applications.



Responsibilities

    Grow existing business, generate and qualify new opportunities, and capture new business. Be responsible for "Cradle to Grave" Business Development and Growth for QinetiQ to the Customers. Develop a deep understanding of existing and prospective customers, understand their current and future requirements, and correlate capabilities required by the customers to QinetiQ's products and solutions. Identify and understand the competitive landscape and contribute to a QinetiQ strategy toward a superior offering. Develop and execute coordinated approaches to new business opportunities. Develop and execute comprehensive capture campaigns. Be responsible for the discretionary spending budgets to capture new business.

  • Facilitate support to the Proposal Writers, Subject Matter Experts, Pricing, Engineering, and Technical staff as activities mature through the Process Phases and Gate Reviews. Direct supervision of Color teams, contractor support, and all aspects of proposal preparation will fall under your responsibilities. Responsible for keeping the Capture and Business Development Leadership fully informed on progress. Provide reviews to the President/CEO and Senior BU leaders.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with critical U.S. DoD, DSCA, and U.S Navy staffs, program office stakeholders, international customers, aircraft original equipment manufacturers and partner companies. Identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate and be part of developing the strategic direction for our products and markets and be the voice of the customer within the Capture/Proposal Process.

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, business line leaders, engineering leads, manufacturing, capture and proposal, other business/product lines, partner companies, and customers.

  • Communicate our value to customers, partners, competitors, and the interested public. Be the business development face of the organization and be directly involved in go-to-market strategy development and execution of go-to-market plans.

  • Provide vision to your team members and recruit and retain key personnel to resource the requirements of the business plan.

  • Collaborate with QinetiQ's Global Government Relations (GGR) at the Federal, State/Local on Public Policy in their advocation and development of new technologies and our solutions.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time (domestically & internationally)



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8-10 years of prior Aerospace and Defense experience or Advanced Degree and a minimum of 12 years of experience.
  • Military experience in acquiring defense products, and/or Naval operational experience or working at a defense contractor to develop and deploy defense products.
  • Familiarity with DoD 5000 series and DoD PPBE methodology required.
  • Experience with project and/or program management with business/financial reporting.
  • Experience interacting with military customers.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance #qinetiqclearedjob


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Military/Operational experience utilizing weapons or electronics in fleet applications is desirable.
  • Military Acquisition experience - intimate understanding of and experience navigating the Defense Acquisition process.
  • Desired experience working with or in Dept of Navy N85, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and/or MARCORSYSCOM.
  • Management experience in design and/or construction of Government and/or commercial vessels.
  • Program Management experience on FMS programs, System Security, and capital programs, Familiarity with SPY 6 Radar Hardware Production & Sustainment.
  • Familiarity with the Shipley Business Development Lifecycle model.
