Position Summary

The Mgr PG Electrical Projects/Programs manages a team that is responsible for the initiation and planning of complex electrical projects and the development and oversight of various electrical programs in Power Generation.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for developing and leading a team of highly effective engineering professionals who follow defined best practices for project and program value delivery.
  • Demonstrates leadership and establishes trust within Power Generation, engineering teams, and with business partners. Models the behaviors necessary to define, deploy and deliver project results that meet PG leadership expectations.
  • Understands, practices, and incorporates organizational change leadership into project planning & plant program methodologies.
  • Provides leadership and direction to the team regarding processes and execution for electrical projects and programs.
  • Accountable for the initiation and planning of new electrical projects to support the plant or related PG infrastructure.
  • Accountable for timely and effective communication within the engineering team, plant personnel and across stakeholder groups.
  • Effectively partners with PG leadership and stakeholders to ensure there is clear direction regarding project initiation, prioritization, approval and design/specifications for each project.
  • Accountable for developing and managing all electrical plant programs within PG.
  • Accountable for leveraging and improving the necessary tools and practices for visibility and transparency for program portfolios and electrical projects.
  • Coaches/mentors assigned engineers to achieve and improve results. Actively seek ways to apply advanced techniques and technology to processes providing information on technical trends, reporting and automation.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn, communicate, follow, and direct others through the project initiation and planning process. This includes the ability to produce qualified business cases and actionable project plans.
  • Establishes partnerships with business leadership, project sponsors and owners, and program participants.
  • Collaborates with PG leaders to ensure commitments are maintained in the delivery of their electrical projects and programs.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Experience managing highly complex projects and programs across within the electric generation business or utility industry.
Significant successful leadership experience, including leading projects, programs, and people.
A demonstrated ability to work effectively with business executives, leaders, with all levels of professionals, and with engineers, project managers and teams.
Extensive experience partnering with Executives and business leaders to define and deliver value.
Exceptional skills at producing qualified business cases.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Organizational development leadership and change skills.
Ability to clarify ambiguous information or instructions into actionable steps.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in an appropriate discipline or Engineering degree.
  • Power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering experience.
  • Resource Planning and Scheduling.
  • Demonstrated organizational design, data analysis, business planning, negotiation, problem-solving, critical thinking skills.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; or similar level of analytical capability gained through demonstrated success in a related position
Required Certifications
Working Environment
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business- related events. Officed at CPS Energy Power Plant Construction Office Building but may also work occasionally from Main Office. After hours work may be required.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
