What is the opportunity?

The global Market Data Services team consists of three sub-groups (MDS Administration, MDS Solutions and MDS Compliance) who engage, strategize and support enterprise-wide businesses and stakeholders.

This role in the MDS Solutions team is responsible for the sourcing, contract managing and optimizing of market data for the firm. You will engage, strategize and support enterprise-wide businesses and stakeholders; and partner with technology and operations professionals providing expertise on market data service options, sources and suppliers. Your responsibilities span across technical and strategic functions, especially when it comes to risk mitigation, compliance, and analytics.

What will you do?

Contract Management

  • Lead the negotiation, review and management of contacts with major market data vendors
  • Ensure the organizations use of market data aligns with licensing terms

Business Support

  • Provide market data solutions to all levels of business ranging from front office to back office.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on data entitlements, usage policies, vendor guidelines and industry standards
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives through vendor rationalization, contract restructuring and usage audits.

Supplier Management/Vendor Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors
  • Establish regular touchpoints to stay ahead of product changes, pricing models and service updates
  • Ensure all market data suppliers adhere to RBC supplier management standards, Code of conduct, and business continuity requirements.

Product Research/Industry Intelligence

  • Seek out market data sources and solutions for RBC business requirements.
  • Research industry trends and provide guidance on alternative services or changes impacting market data.
  • Participate in industry forums and working groups.
  • Evaluate and review new market data products, providing recommendations on services or strategies for RBC Enterprise

Analytics/Reporting

  • Produce ad-hoc and re-curing detailed reports and/or presentation decks with valued added commentary and analysis on market data spend, trends, and key updates.

What you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in market data contract management, sourcing or vendor management
  • Experience working for a major financial institution or large buy/sell-side firm.
  • Deep knowledge of market data vendors and products (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE, S&P, Moody's, etc.)
  • Familiarity with market data cost structures and billing models
  • Data analysis, contract negotiations, and compliance knowledge
  • Understanding of data usage compliance and entitlements (especially regulated environments like financial institutions)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Stakeholder management skills (e.g. working with Legal, Procurement, Finance and, Business teams)
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple vendor relationships simultaneously
  • High level understanding of Market Data tools (MDM, FITS or similar), and advanced proficiency at using MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Nice to-have

  • Previous vendor-side experience
  • Knowledge of alternative data sources
  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and how market data integrates into them.
  • High level understanding of BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, etc.)

The expected salary range for this particular position is $85,000-$135,000 , depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
