JOB DESCRIPTION

Experience: Junior-level candidates should have two years of experience, while middle-level candidates should have at least four years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This experience should include generating complex, multi-layered printed, digital, and web-based maps, creating and modifying template-based GIS web applications, and performing advanced geospatial analyses. Candidates should be knowledgeable in GIS and GPS concepts, familiar with relational database fundamentals, and possess experience working with imagery, including its collection, processing, analysis, and exploitation. Some experience in the development of GIS applications is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users, both orally and in writing. Additionally, the role may involve conducting specific analysis and research in various mission areas, preparing assessments based on sophisticated collection, research, and analysis of both classified and open-source information, and leading technical demonstrations and presentations.

Responsibilities: The position encompasses duties typically associated with Geospatial Analysts, Cartographers, and Imagery Analysts. Responsibilities involve providing full-time support, producing complex cartographic and data products, and performing data conversion, migration, and translation activities using advanced processing techniques. The candidate will assist with project planning, requirements analysis, database design, development, coding, and testing, as well as quality assurance and quality control. The role includes performing data management functions for large-scale spatial data sources, including responding to complex data requests, maintaining data dictionaries, and populating metadata in accordance with official policies. Additionally, the candidate will conduct GIS and GPS user training sessions and provide user support.
