Purpose Under general supervision, performs laboratory experiments using tissue culture and mouse models, analyzes data, and reports findings to uncover the etiology of breast cancer. "To learn about our laboratory, please visit: https://millerlaboratory.org/" Primary Functions 1) Perform lab research procedures including molecular studies (protein, RNA, DNA) in tissue culture systems, mouse models (including surgery and drug treatment), and human tissue specimens. 2) Use an electronic lab notebook to maintain accurate and timely records of test methods and results, providing information for evaluation and recommendations related to the direction of the research. 3) Analyze data using statistical methods and produce graphic results. 4) Work with the lab PI to interpret data and plan follow-up experiments. 5) Prepare analyzed data in a format suitable for dissemination and publication. 6) Contribute to the writing of manuscripts for publication. 7) Participate in meetings with the lab PI and lab members to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies, and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail are required. Knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies. Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in areas of expertise. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
