Job Overview

Our Connectors Business Unit in Leeds, AL is looking for a Foundry Supervisor who will oversee our 3rd Shift Foundry operation processes as well as supervise hourly employees while pursuing continuous improvement in areas such as productivity increases, improving efficiency while minimizing costs. This is a hands-on position, managing both equipment and employees to maximize output, while maintaining safety, quality, delivery and cost.


Hours: 9:00pm - 5:30am CST (Sunday night - Friday morning)

A Day In The Life

  • Assure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and company safety regulations, procedures, policies and best practices. Responsible for building and maintaining a safety culture.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to ensure efficient, safe delivery of high-quality products to customers.
  • Lead daily crew meetings to review area performance and provide training on various safety, quality and delivery topics
  • Maintain high levels of employee engagement by handling the interpersonal aspects of the job including disciplinary activity, coordination with other supervisors, work rule enforcement, and labor relations per union contract and company values
  • Verify accuracy of data and reports daily related to production in the supervised areas using SAP and Microsoft applications such as Excel
  • Assist with appropriate staffing and training of new employees
  • Approve and edit employee attendance records daily to ensure direct reports receive their proper pay
  • Communicate with fellow supervisors across three shifts, as well as engineering, materials, design, safety and quality teams as required
  • Ensure schedule alignment; department employees are present at the beginning of each shift and in accurate work areas.
  • Balance quality, efficiency, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Facilitate and document cross training of employees.
  • Spend a minimum of 80% of shift on the production floor leading people and driving results through others.
  • Ability to learn all the foundry processes and supervise employees in these processes.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college experience or secondary education a plus
  • Previous Supervisory experience: Team Lead experience at minimum may be considered.
  • Experience in a heavy metal environment preferred; green sand foundry experience valued
  • Demonstrated real-world Problem-Solving experience
  • Computer skills, specifically experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Excellent written and communication skills; formal training a plus
  • Strong desire to continuously improve and drive results
