Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
This position is primarily responsible for operating, maintaining, and coordinating the repair and upgrade of the University's fire alarms, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, life safety, and hood systems. This position also performs building inspections and construction monitoring of all new and renovated building construction on campus.
The position must effectively communicate regulations concisely and accurately, responsibly complete duties, establish and recommend procedural changes to ensure safety standards and methods are applied, and determine corrective actions when unsafe conditions are identified. This position works with a diverse group including faculty, staff, students, the public as well as external agency representatives, and must professionally manage sensitive matters. |
Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The purpose of the Environmental Health and Safety Office is to provide a variety of Environmental Health and Safety services to all administrative units, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include risk assessment (hazard analysis, risk identification, loss control safety measures for the University), response to on-campus calls regarding fire alarm malfunctions, installation and service, and reducing the actual loss of labor and equipment resources in the administration of services. |
