As a Principal Software Rapid Response Engineer at Nokia, you will play a critical role in ensuring our customers' networks run smoothly by proactively addressing software and system issues. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including SW/FW/HW Engineering, Product Line Management, and Global Technical Support, to gather feature requirements and drive efficient recovery efforts during critical outages. Your work environment will be dynamic and fast-paced, shaped by the high demands of global ICPs. You will utilize your expertise in software systems and optical networks to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems, contributing directly to the continuous improvement of our software products.   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software, Firmware, Hardware, Product Management, and Technical Support to swiftly resolve network issues impacting customer operations.
  • Engage directly with global Internet Content Providers (ICPs) to gather feature requirements and support critical recovery efforts during outage scenarios.
  • Analyze logs and conduct root cause details (RCA) to diagnose and isolate faults, driving corrective actions by development teams.
  • Actively participate in the software/product release cycle, providing enhancements and ensuring robustness through effective debugging strategies.
  • Optimize Software Verification Team (SVT) test plans based on real-world ICP use cases to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Lead discussions with architecture teams to recommend necessary changes, ensuring products meet evolving ICP needs and performance standards.
  • Develop tools and knowledge bases to empower service teams, reducing field escalations and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Implement engineering process improvements and best practices to streamline workflows and bolster product stability across releases.


You have:



  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a SW development organization
  • Engineering degree or Master's in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of optical network systems and L1 layer protocols
  • Experience with QNX or Linux RTOS operating systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in production and lab environments


It would be nice if you also had:



  • Understanding of coherent communication systems and forward error correction algorithms
  • Experience with SDN technologies like OpenFlow or OpenStack
  • Working knowledge of system control plane protocols such as OSPF, MPLS, and LDP
  • Expertise in programming with C, C++, and Python for automation development
