Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $100,000-$180,000. This position may include membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan.

Position description

The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of California, Davis, is recruiting for full or part time Anesthesiology Clinical Researcher/Professor as an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Adjunct or In-Residence Series.

The successful candidate will be a researcher with a portion of the role devoted to education, mentorship and service. Ideal candidates should have a clearly identified pathway to funding or a demonstrated track record. The ideal candidates should have a background in basic science or neuroscience, and actively engaged in outcomes-based research.

Research responsibilities include conducting high-quality, innovative research within the field of anesthesiology. The successful candidate will demonstrate continuous leadership and significant scholarly contributions. While the focus of this position is research, leadership in grant acquisition, publication, and scholarly impact is essential. The candidate is expected to lead research programs or sub-programs, develop new research projects, and contribute to the writing of grant proposals and publications. The department includes clinical research coordinators (CRCs) who assist with IRB submissions, consent acquisition, and data analysis. Support for grant writing, staffing, and funding will be assessed on an individual basis.

Additional responsibilities include clinical research education of medical students, residents and fellows. The successful candidate is expected to provide service to department, school and campus committees. Additional expectations include ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment, and ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree required by start date.

Demonstrated track record of leadership and significant contributions in anesthesiology research, with evidence of peer-reviewed publications, grants, and collaborative research impact. Strong record of innovative scholarly contributions, with a proven ability to lead or contribute significantly to research projects, publications, and grant writing. Active participation in professional societies and demonstrated experience presenting research findings at conferences.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

Ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Experience serving in leadership positions in professional organizations, editorial boards, or other key roles in the research community. Proven ability to secure competitive research funding from federal and other external sources.
