Job Description:

The Database Administrator (DBA) oversees the performance, integrity, and security of database systems. Their primary responsibilities encompass designing, implementing, and maintaining databases to ensure both data availability and reliability. DBAs are tasked with monitoring database performance, optimizing queries, and managing backup and recovery processes. Moreover, the DBA plays a crucial role in generating and managing SQL Server reports. This entails designing, developing, and maintaining reports utilizing tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), which aid in business intelligence and decision-making processes. By producing accurate and timely reports, DBAs enable stakeholders to derive insights from data and make well-informed decisions. The overarching objective of the DBA is to ensure efficient storage, rapid access, precise reporting, and robust protection of data against loss or unauthorized access, thus supporting the organization's data management and analytical requirements.

  1. Database Design and Implementation: Creating and maintaining database structures that support the company's data needs. This involves defining schemas, tables, and relationships to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
  2. Data Security and Integrity: Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. This includes setting up user roles, permissions, and authentication methods, and regularly reviewing and updating security policies.
  3. Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Continuously monitoring database performance and making necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency. This includes identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks like slow queries or configuration issues.
  4. Backup and Recovery: Ensuring that data is regularly backed up and can be quickly restored in case of data loss. This involves creating and maintaining backup systems and recovery plans.
  5. Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring that the database systems comply with industry regulations and standards, such as FDA guidelines. This includes generating reports and audits to demonstrate compliance.
  6. Design and Develop SQL Server Reports: Create, maintain, and optimize reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights that support business operations and strategic decision-making.
  7. Ensure Data Accuracy and Report Performance: Validate data sources, ensure the integrity of report outputs, and optimize report performance through efficient query design and resource management, aligning with organizational reporting standards and compliance requirements.
  8. Collaboration with IT Teams: Working closely with other IT professionals to implement best practices, troubleshoot issues, and integrate new technologies.
  9. Future Planning and Upgrades: Planning for future database needs and implementing updates or upgrades to support the company's growth and evolving requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science required.
  • SQL Server Database Administrator desired.
  • CompTIA DataSys+ desired.
  • 3 to 5 years hands on Microsoft SQL database management required.
  • Experience with Server Administration: Ability to manage and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers, including patching preferred.
  • Functional expert in Database Design and Maintenance.
  • Functional expert in Performance Tuning.
  • Functional expert in Security Management and Backup and Recovery.

Shift: Weekday, Days Monday-Friday

Compensation & Benefits:

This is an on-site, full-time position located in Spokane, WA.

Hiring Wage: $77,968.80 - $118,300 annually depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Jubilant HollisterStier and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role
