Job Title: Receiver

Department: Shipping - 1008

Location: High Bridge, NJ

Summary

The Receiver is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming materials, ensuring that products are verified, documented, and routed properly within the plant. This role plays a key part in inventory accuracy, material traceability, and supply chain efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against packing slips, purchase orders, or shop routers
  • Unload trucks safely and inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies
  • Document and label all received items accurately with heat numbers, part numbers, and other identifiers as required
  • Stage received material in designated areas for inspection or storage
  • Work with the Quality Department for receiving inspections when necessary
  • Communicate any delivery issues (e.g. damage, overages, shortages) to Purchasing, Quality, or Engineering as appropriate
  • Accurately input receiving data into tracking or inventory systems
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of receiving areas and ensure materials are protected from damage
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials throughout the plant
  • Ensure that materials requiring outside services are tagged and communicated for routing
  • Provide support in preparing product for return-to-vendor or return-to-stock as needed
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in emergency response procedures relevant to the department
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of receiving processes and basic inventory practices
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screenings


Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (1 year of relevant experience may be substituted)
  • Prior experience in receiving, warehousing, or material handling preferred
  • Forklift experience required (certification a plus)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or digital receiving tools preferred
