Description

General Summary:

Provide first-line leadership and hands-on support to the inspection team within the Quality department. This role is responsible for overseeing daily inspection priorities, resolving technical and operational issues in real time, and performing inspections as needed to maintain production tempo. The Quality Supervisor plays a key role in upholding quality standards and ensuring process integrity without compromising throughput or compliance. This individual must be able to make informed decisions on the floor, coordinate with engineering and production teams, and ensure alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary floor-level leader for all inspection activities, setting priorities and adjusting workload based on production demands and risk. Resolve in-process inspection challenges and work with Quality Engineering team to ensure timely identification, escalation, and disposition of nonconforming material. Lead the daily stand-up or shift handover meetings for the inspection team. Support CMM and manual inspection as necessary. Contribute to the training and development of new inspectors or cross-training initiatives. Classify, analyze, and interpret production and quality data. Approve finished products by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests. Assist in the investigation of customer complaints regarding quality. Perform other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements
  • Able to work independently to verify the conformance of machined details and assemblies according to operation sheets, customer specifications, and drawings.
  • Ensures materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged.
  • Identifies and recommends disposition of defective items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong proficiency in dimensional inspection using tools including micrometers, calipers, height gages, and surface plates. Experience with FARO arm is a plus.
  • Proven ability to stage, operate, and interpret CMM inspections; programming capability is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and related aerospace quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize workload, make decisions independently, and lead small teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dimensional, visual, and mechanical inspection methods, with strong shop math skills and familiarity with special process requirements.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and supports 5S initiatives
  • Understand and apply skills including the elements of corrective action, root cause analysis, and control of non-conforming material.

Education & Experience Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in an inspection quality assurance role in aerospace or similarly complex industry.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or lead inspector capacity strongly preferred.
  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to lead and influence frontline teams.
  • Calm under pressure, especially when managing floor-level issues, part holds, or priority shifts.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and lead by example.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and applications, i.e., ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft suite, etc.
