ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:

• For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
• For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California: Additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)

Position Summary:

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Life Science Service Specialist to deliver field support for cutting-edge biotech instrumentation. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of advanced life science platforms such as MALDI-TOF, LABNIRS, IM-LAYER, and related systems.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Execute repairs, installations, and maintenance across assigned life science instruments.
• Deliver technical training to customers and provide remote support to peers.
• Document service activities with accuracy; identify recurring trends and recommend improvements.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
• Manage field inventory and ensure parts readiness within assigned territory.
• Travel, including overnight trips, to support customer uptime.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; Bachelor's in Life Sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience servicing complex analytical instruments (MALDI-MS, HPLC, LCMS, TQ-MS, and IR systems).
• Strong technical and diagnostic capabilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly.

Compensation & Benefits:

This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums. Additional variable compensation may include a discretionary year-end bonus based on overall company performance.

The starting salary range for this role is $105,000 to $110,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use) and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.
