JOB DESCRIPTION
Experience: The candidate must have two years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and possess considerable experience or formal training in technical illustration and graphic art. The role requires expertise in complex cartography, photo and video editing, website design, and the generation of graphics standards and digital iconography. Proficiency with major GIS and design software packages, including ArcGIS, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign, is required. Additionally, some experience in the development of web applications and the creation of printed marketing materials is necessary. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical users in both individual and small group settings. Additional responsibilities include cataloging, analyzing, manipulating, and interpreting remote sensing data, creating and managing complex geospatial and remote sensing databases, and developing various cartographic product series. The candidate is also expected to manage quality control and assurance of multiple geospatial products and data. Responsibilities: This full-time role involves producing data, cartographic, and analytical products with a high degree of complexity. Responsibilities include organizing, designing, preparing, and revising technical illustrations and graphics. The candidate will prepare rough sketches and complete orthographic and perspective drawings, and operate computer graphics software to prepare and revise graph formats, charts, drawings, documents, block diagrams, and schematics. Considerations for color, shading, format, perspective, and display enhancements are required given the reproduction medium. The candidate will proof work for visual appearance, completeness, and accuracy as well as perform art paste-up work. Additionally, high-quality graphics and graphic products for both print and electronic media will be created. The candidate will assist in designing, developing, and implementing graphic standards for GIS-related products, and prepare marketing and training materials for products and services. Ensuring that web and desktop applications feature professional graphics and intuitive user interfaces is also vital. Education: Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree plus five years of experience, or a Master's degree plus three years of experience Location: The contractor shall provide on-site support in designated Government workspaces primarily in the Washington, DC metropolitan and surrounding areas |
