Principal Communications Associate, Premium+ Communications

We're looking for an organized, proactive, fungible communications specialist to join our team and support the comprehensive communications strategy for our Premium+ team. The Principal Associate Communications role is responsible for leading, drafting and delivering broad communication touchpoints for the PPX organization. You will partner closely with the PPX Comms Lead to deliver on the communication needs of the business, flexing into specific business areas including Velocity Black and Capital One Shopping. You will also partner closely with the Chief of Staff team, members of the Senior Leadership team, HR and other horizontal teams to drive alignment, engagement and connections across the org.

In this fast-paced position, you'll use creative thinking to develop content that brings our communications strategies to life. Through a multi-channel approach, you'll inform and engage associates while helping them stay connected to our goals, strategy, and culture. You'll develop communications plans, deeply understand team and stakeholder needs, assess the performance and health of our communications strategy through metrics analysis, recognize and celebrate our associates, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the PPX leadership team with communications requests, including organizational announcements, meeting and speaking engagement preparation, and team updates that inform and inspire associates.

  • Curate engaging experiences including executive gatherings, all-employee meetings, digital/video storytelling and special events with storytelling.

  • Elevate impactful customer and associate stories to share across the organization. Own an internal "beat." Research, compile and distribute relevant news through various internal channels - managing delivery end to end, such as Slack, newsletters, and more.

  • Collect and analyze associate and leadership feedback and metrics to help improve overall engagement to reach our communication goals.

  • Play an integral role in promoting associate engagement with leadership and among teams and partners.

Here's what we're looking for in an ideal teammate:

  • Strong writing and story-telling skills with sound editorial judgment.

  • Ability to distill complex content into clear, concise and engaging communications.

  • Experience with a variety of communication channels (gmail, Zoom, Slack, etc.).

  • Exemplary organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing, activities and complex projects on-time to high quality conclusion.

  • A track record of consistently acting with urgency as needed.

  • Proven track record of building collaborative work relationships.

  • Strong customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executives and management, and partners.

  • Creative problem solving skills, working with internal customers to understand intent and goals to deliver communications that meet their needs.

  • Be comfortable flexing in and out of work streams as needed in a rapidly changing and growing environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in a project management, learning and development, communications, marketing role or a combination

  • At least 3 years of experience in content creation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years as a communications or marketing specialist

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $102,700 - $117,200 for Principal Communications Assoc New York, NY: $112,000 - $127,800 for Principal Communications Assoc Richmond, VA: $93,400 - $106,600 for Principal Communications Assoc

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
