DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the administrative management that supports the Bureau of Forestry's Central Office divisions and sections, which include Forest Health, Forest Fire Protection, Conservation and Ecological Sciences, and Rural and Community Forestry. Your responsibilities will encompass high-level oversight and planning related to fiscal management, contracts, personnel, training, procurement, and general administrative functions. Furthermore, you will manage the administrative operations for the South Eastern Forest Region, addressing fiscal, budgetary, procurement, and other administrative needs. You will also provide essential support to Districts 1 (Michaux), 2 (Buchanan), 3 (Tuscarora), 5 (Rothrock), 6 (Gallitzin), 7 (Bald Eagle), 11 (Pinchot), 17 (William Penn), 18 (Weiser), and 19 (Delaware).

You will oversee the strategic planning and operational management of fiscal, contractual, personnel, training, procurement, and general administrative functions within this area. Your team will consist of six direct reports, including an Administrative Officer 1 for Fleet & Technology Management, an Administrative Officer 1 and an Administrative Assistant 1 for Forest Fire Protection, an Administrative Assistant 1 and a Clerical Assistant 2 for Forest Health, as well as a Clerical Assistant 3 for Conservation Science and Ecological Services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
