Drexel Dance Ensemble and Fresh Dance Assistant Directors

Job Summary

The Assistant Directors of the Drexel Dance Ensemble support the creative, administrative, and educational goals of the ensemble. This role involves assisting in the artistic direction, rehearsal management, student mentorship, and performance production of Drexel University's mainstage dance concerts. The position fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes student growth in performance and choreography.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with the Director in shaping the creative vision of each concert season.
• Assist in organizing auditions and casting.
• Assist in selecting student choreographers and guest artists.
• Provide feedback to student choreographers and performers.
• Attend and supervise rehearsals; offer technical and artistic guidance.
• Maintain documentation of rehearsals and choreography.
• Support production planning, including tech rehearsals and performances.
• Help manage communications between ensemble members, choreographers, faculty, and production staff when needed.
• Serve as a mentor to undergraduate dance students in areas such as professionalism, performance etiquette, and choreographic development.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Dance or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of dance performance, production processes, and rehearsal management.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and support college-level students in a creative setting.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a university or educational setting.
• Familiarity with concert dance productions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse artistic teams.

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
