Overview

Provide management of The Spa, effectively scheduling and implementing the spa's resources to support consistent compliance with spa industry guidelines and hotel policies, and quality guest service while maximizing departmental profits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scheduling of spa staff to ensure quality guest service and maximization of profits based on business levels.

  • Provide input regarding staffing re: interviewing, hiring, training, motivating, and recommendations re: performance evaluations based on staff interactions and observed performance.

  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.

  • Take direction from Director and Manager re: business levels and hotel occupancy and recommend staffing adjustments accordingly.

  • Provide support in fielding guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiate results.

  • Adhere to established budgeting, forecasting, cost and inventory controls.

  • Be available and able to assist in all aspects of front desk and attendant operations as needed based on business needs.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Hotel experience preferred.

  • Requires organization and flexibility and a problem-solving approach to all duties.

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

  • Complex mathematical skills and considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare complex mathematical calculations without error.

  • Ability to be mobile for significant distances between and within buildings on the property with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to observe performance and detect signs of emergency situations and respond with proper action.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

  • Assist in creating and executing checklists and daily tasks for contract housekeeping labor and ensure compliance
  • Mandatory participation in all Spa activities, events, promotions, trainings and meetings.
  • Is an advocate for Chateau Elan's Vision, Mission and Initiative of The Spa and its operations
  • Required to demonstrate and maintain exceptional product knowledge of The Spa, property specific outlets, and Chateau Elan/HEI Hotels & Resorts
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality, service, and timing to include all policies and procedures
  • Reports all deficiencies, maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to Asst Spa Director and Spa Director immediately
  • Maintains exceptional cleanliness and organization in all work areas

    Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, colleagues may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Chateau Elan from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

    SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

    In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • OTHER DUTIES:
  • Assimilate into Chateau Elan Service Culture Standards through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements thereof. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.

    SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

    OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems
  • Knowledge of/understanding of Spa Industry
  • Consistently strives to fulfill our Company's Core Values and Mission Statement
  • Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively
  • Must be detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environments
  • Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes
  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed, and in compliance with Chateau Elan grooming standards
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Additional reasonable requests by management
  • Safety Shoes (slip resistant) preferred
  • Use of gloves (latex, vinyl, plastic, fabric. Metal)
  • Apron
  • Colleagues will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The hotel provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

    SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

    The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials.
  • Ability to communicate orally and verbally in English with staff and outside entities. Certain positions will require the ability to read and write in English as well.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote all spa service and fitness offering
  • EDUCATION

    High school graduate or equivalent required.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

    CPR/FA/AED Training preferred
