Job Description:

This position is responsible for assisting in the organization financial planning process and monthly closing procedures with emphasis on cost accounting and inventory. The Cost Accountant performs a variety of accounting and finance tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and maintain standard cost system/inventory control
  • Assist in the development of customer pricing
  • Perform financial analysis for monthly reviews and related management reporting
  • General ledger journal entry/account reconciliation
  • Month-end/year-end closing
  • Develop and implement internal controls
  • Foster team atmosphere while achieving Key Results
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger, capital asset accounting, cost accounting and financial data analysis
  • Understanding of standard cost system and ability to analyze
  • Understanding of US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems: Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); ERP systems (IQMS a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal team building and motivational skills
  • Strong analytical skills, able to understand complex data and issues with the ability to think outside the box
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Ability to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions
  • Ability to communicate or present information, both verbally and written, effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy requiring minimal supervision

Education/ Previous Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in related field or higher
  • At least 5 years' experience in accounting for a manufacturing firm
  • Experience coordinating across multiple functions

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Safety Responsibilities include but are not limited to: entering HazRacs, and alerting the Safety Coordinator / Immediate supervisor to any threat to their safety.
