Salary Range: $188K to 216K*

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Development serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for driving Vibrant's fundraising vision and implementing a comprehensive strategy for Vibrant to galvanize resources in support of growing infrastructure and Vibrant Programs. The position would drive revenue centered around Vibrant's mission and core values.They will be responsible for onboarding and managing a diverse team of development professionals with demonstrated competencies in annual, major, planned, and corporate/foundation giving, as well as advancement services, gift processing, donor/prospect communications, digital/innovative fundraising, donor stewardship and recognition, fundraising events, and data management and analytics.

The Vice President of Development will help Vibrant realize its greatest impact and engage and align donors with their values and mission. This position is responsible for building and maintaining a portfolio of strategic donors/prospects. They will cultivate relationships with existing major gift donors and build and foster new relationships to grow and increase philanthropic revenue for Vibrant.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy in accordance with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethical Standards and Donor Bill of Rights
  • Develop the annual budget for development and monitor budget performance to assure compliance with budget goals and performance benchmarks
  • Promote the use of fundraising best practices across all areas of development to ensure Vibrant's cost of fundraising is efficient and meets the goals of development and the organization
  • Activate an optimal staffing plan to grow fundraising revenue and recruit and hire positions to support the staffing plan
  • Maintain a portfolio of strategic major donors/prospects and build trusting relationships with consistent visits to solicit donors/prospects for major gifts
  • Prepare and manage engagement plans for donors/prospects in the Chief Executive Officer's (CEO) portfolios
  • Work closely with the CEO to manage the Board of Directors' and Development Committee's leadership involvement in philanthropy
  • Provide leadership and direction for advancement services, including dashboard and reporting needs, database audits and optimization, and prospect wealth screening and analytics, therefore enhancing fundraising success.
  • Provide leadership and direction for Annual Giving to advance effective and innovative strategies to maintain donors and develop prospective donors and assure appropriate themes, messaging and the opportunity for support, as well as foster collaborative engagement with Communications/Marketing
  • Provide leadership and direction for Major/Planned/Corporate and Foundation Giving Directors to build and strengthen the pipeline of major/transformative gift opportunities as well as foster collaborative engagement with Strategic Partnerships
  • Lead, direct, and mentor all fundraising staff to achieve the highest level of professional excellence and fundraising productivity and liaise with People Operations to develop career development plans for the development staff
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Evaluate risk factors with potential to disrupt achievement of strategic goals affecting large- scale or multiple programs and responds with corrective action
  • Consult with executive staff on long- term impact affecting departmental and/or organizational performance
  • Manage and mentor a team in a hybrid work setting, ensuring that all members are coordinated, understand goals, and thrive in a supportive and dynamic team atmosphere
  • Conceptualize, implement and evaluate strategic business and program goals and objectives
  • Establish broad policies governing the organization, consistent with mission, values and best practices, and assures compliance
  • Strategic and tactical decision-making, subject to executive review


Stewardship & Revenue Growth:


  • Demonstrate and articulate a strategic vision and direction in response to internal and external forces affecting the work environment
  • Lead the development of written proposals, concept papers, fundraising plans, and the other materials needed to creatively deepen prospect engagement for securing revenue streams
  • Play a leadership role in translating the organization's vision and values into planning and goals
  • Shape and interpret policies to create and reinforce an environment consistent with mission, values and best practices
  • Take part in organizational planning, institutional planning processes, and regular reporting activities


Collaboration:


  • Play a leadership role in translating the organization's vision and values into planning and goals
  • Work closely with Chief Program Officer (CPO) to gain expertise and strategic counsel regarding new development opportunities for evolving programs

  • Close significant investments and philanthropy through creative, entrepreneurial and sophisticated relationship building


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Self-starter with strong leadership qualities, who can engage and collaborate professionally with all levels of staff, board members, and prospective donors
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and present them concisely
  • Able to align interests through cooperation and collaboration with other groups and cross-functional teams, even where no direct reporting relationship exists. This will need to be accomplished across evolving departments and a transforming organization
  • Experience developing complex written materials in a short period of time
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to execute goals and delegate assignments
  • Discretion in handling and securing confidential information, as well as experience conducting oneself in a highly professional manner
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for humanity, and demonstrates presence, self-confidence, and common sense


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree/credentials preferred
  • 10+ years of fundraising or nonprofit experience; management experience preferred
  • Documented success personally implementing sophisticated cultivation strategies leading to successful closure of gifts in kind
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables
  • 5+ years of experience in a nonprofit health or voluntary health organization is a preferred
  • Bilingual (ENG/SPN) is preferred


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time
  • Will involve attending events that take place outside of the company's main office, such as conferences, trade shows, or client meetings
  • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders as well as team members
  • Will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
