Inside the Role

The Credit Operations BI/Data Analyst will be responsible for all credit and operations related data analytics using Business Intelligence tools like SQL/Cognos and other reporting capabilities that include month-end, ad-hoc and manual data consolidation. As part of the Business Analytics team that supports Credit & Operations reporting tasks, this role will be involved in developing, analyzing and tracking key performance metrics. On a daily basis, assist various business teams with identifying data gaps and enhancements to the reporting environment and/or business processes. Coordinate with the core BI team (DIAA) to capture the requirements from the various business teams and assist in deploying standard reports.

What You Drive at DTFS:

Ad-hoc Reports and Data Analytical Efforts - (40%)

  • Assess business user requests and provide ad-hoc reporting using SQL/Cognos, along with insight and analysis based on those requests.

  • Demonstrate a logical, rigorous and analytical problem-solving approach.

  • Collaborate with data analytics team to identify data sources and data querying logic.

Customer Support - (15%)

  • Regularly attend meetings for the supported business areas and provide analytics consulting to assist with strategic development.

  • Attend meetings at a business user's request to assist with gathering and providing any analysis or other information as required by the user.

  • Support the weekly prioritization process to ensure correct allocation of various data requests from management and operation teams.

  • Review of senior management's requests to determine the most efficient and effective way to meet the needs.

Support Business Integration - (15%)

  • Represent Credit & Operations business in key project initiatives and assist with topics related to data and reporting.

  • Proactively identify data gaps and work with data analytics team to incorporate needed information into the data warehouse during quarterly IT updates.

Support Business Enhancement - (10%)

  • Assessment of business issues, identification of appropriate data and development of solutions for management.

  • Review findings and proposed solutions to various business problems.

Data Request Scope - (10%)

  • Gather requirements from business users. Work with data analytics team to assess the feasibility of the report request.

  • Provide feedback to the business users about data availability, request completion, target date and complexity.

Quality Control - (10%)

  • Review daily, weekly and monthly manual reports for accuracy and resolve issues with the data analytics team.

Knowledge You Should Bring:

  • HS/GED with at least 3 years of experience in one of the following: Business - General; Credit; Operations; Finance; Information Technology

  • 3+ years of proven experience with coding SQL for data mining

  • Knowledge of data manipulation using IBM Cognos Report Studio/Tableau/Power BI

  • Knowledge of data warehouse environments and databases like IBM db2

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining and segmentation techniques.

  • Ability to translate technical information into business terms and vice-versa.

  • Ability to collect data to establish facts, identify trends/variances and integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity.

  • Strong root cause analysis skills and ability to derive insights for management team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated strength in organizational and planning abilities.

  • Strong consulting and negotiating skills.

  • Self-motivated and independently work through assigned tasks.

  • Basic project management skills.

  • Knowledge on how to use MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Certifications (If highest degree is HS/GED): IBM Cognos; MS SQL Server or any other BI/Data Analytics software tools.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Analytics, Finance, Engineering or Business Administration

  • Excellent data manipulation coding skills using SQL

  • Extensive knowledge of consolidating data from multiple data sources using BI Tools like Cognos/Tableau/Power BI

  • Excellent understanding of data warehouse environments, data models, data structures and segmentation techniques.

  • Efficiently translate technical information into business terms and vice-versa.

  • Extensive root cause analysis skills and ability to derive insights for management team.

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with the business teams and assist with complex or strategic data requests.
