Leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are broad and varied, requiring inclusion of technical and business context and solving of non-routine problems.

Job Description

Metaldyne M & A Bluffton, LLC, an AAM company, has openings for Controls Engineers at its facility in Bluffton, Indiana. Job duties include:

1.Research, design, development, troubleshooting and, testing of operational machinery, electrical control equipment, electrical circuitry, and supporting manufacturing control systems.

2. Providing electronic, electrical, and mechanical support to assist production with keeping production equipment and machinery running.

3. Troubleshoot problems in Device Wise, SCADA and Ignition Systems.

4. Designing solutions and troubleshooting complex production problems using Industrial Communication Networks Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Profibus and, Profinet systems.

5. Assisting maintenance in troubleshooting equipment and training engineering technicians and maintenance technicians on new equipment installations.

6. Design and troubleshoot of Fanuc CNC, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC controls to make programming modifications and integrate changes, improve cycle-time, correct recovery programs for Fanuc and ABB robots, CNC machines, gantry equipment and, HMI's.

7. Install and setup vision systems specifically Cognex, Keyence and, IFM.

8. Design and Retrofit existing electrical, robot and, vision systems to meet OSHA standards.

9. Changes to ladder logic to improve cycle-time, engineering process changes, sequences to meet OSHA electrical and safety standards in design or modification of robot and vision systems

10. Developing and editing electrical and mechanical schematics;

11. Designing and specifying control systems for manufacturing equipment.

Required Skills and Education

Position requires: Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or foreign equivalent education, and 3 years' experience working in the Controls field in the position of Controls Engineer, Controls Group Leader, or other Engineering positions. 3 years' experience is required in each of the following:

1. Supporting manufacturing control systems.

2. Working with Device Wise, SCADA and Ignition Systems.

3. Design and Troubleshoot Industrial Communication Networks using Ethernet/IP, Devicenet, Profibus, Profinet.

4. Working with Fanuc CNC and Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC controls, HMI's, and troubleshooting, programming and integration.

5. Working with vision systems, including Cognex, Keyence, and IFM.

6. Use of OSHA electrical and safety standards in design or modification of robot and vision systems.

Experience may be obtained concurrently.
