Paid, internship, or volunteer public library experience Experience creating and facilitating programs for adults in a public library setting
Job Contributions
Plan and present library programming and conduct group tours, school visits, and community outreach Provide reference and reader advisory services and respond to customer concerns in person, on the telephone, and online Oversee advisory groups, coordinate volunteer assignments, and serve in a lead role as appropriate Facilitate public reading programs and initiatives, and compile and report library statistics Evaluate and cull the collection and serve as a local liaison to the central selectors for library materials Prepare book displays, create posters, bibliographies, bookmarks, bulletin boards, games, and promotional displays Instruct library patrons on the use of PCs, the online catalog, various databases, and the Internet Serve on standing and/or ad-hoc committees
Working Conditions
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly and walk/stand to a significant degree Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain an Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
