Senior Director of Nursing

The Senior Director of Nursing (Regional Perinatal Center, IP Services and Nursing Administration or Emergency Department, Critical Care Services and Throughput) is responsible for overall strategic planning communication organizing and implementing nursing operations and goals in alignment with the Medical Center's mission, vision and strategic plan. The position overseas all activities regarding development and implementation of standards of care, professional development and quality/ performance improvement for the delivery of nursing care. Analyzes and controls divisional financial performance. Directs and ensures the quality of all services and activities required to support patient care. This position has professional responsibility for collaboration with the physician teams in multiple sub-specialties and assures the integration of interdisciplinary team members to the service lines. This position supervises directors and managers across multiple units, departments and ensures supervision across all shifts. Coordinates, collaborates and facilitates the delivery of services from other support departments that impact the care delivery system. This role is responsible for all the operations of shared governance structure in the division of nursing. Scope of authority includes oversight of clinical, financial, and patient experience performance.

Qualifications

* New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration.

* Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related field required.

* Master of Science degree in Nursing or related field required.

* Minimum of 10 years management experience required.

* Cultural competencies and knowledge of operations, activities and services related to all clinical service (eg IP, ED, MCI, CC, Ambulatory)

* Professional level of knowledge in finance, budgeting, and planning

* Demonstrated managerial and leadership ability, and excellent personnel management and communication skills

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).

* Effective management skills necessary to organize direct and evaluate the activities of patient care off shift operations.

* Ability to apply and utilize the balanced scorecard measures (customer service, financial, innovation and growth, and performance improvement).

* Critical thinking and analytic skills necessary for problem solving and clinical decision-making.

* Computer literacy.

* American Nurses Credentialing Center Certification in Nursing Administration or Advanced Administration desired.
