The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,750-$206,250 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role. Individual compensation and level of position offered is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will support the deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of the organization's IT infrastructure - including servers, networks, and cloud-based systems.

In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers and IT staff to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable. This position is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of system administration, networking, or cloud platforms who is eager to grow in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers (physical and virtual), and container orchestration platforms
• Support networking components including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points
• Monitor system performance and assist in troubleshooting issues across infrastructure
• Help maintain documentation of systems, procedures, and topologies
• Participate in patch management and routine system updates
• Assist with user support tickets related to infrastructure and system access
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvements or upgrades
• Learn and support cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery efforts

Basic Qualifications

• I am CURRENTLY authorized to work in the US.
• Strong foundations in IT infrastructure components - compute, storage, networking
• Sound understanding of IT security principles
• Understanding of virtualization concepts, hypervisors and VMs, and task automation
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix, and Windows Server environments
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and firewall configurations
• Basics of system administration, backup and disaster recovery best practices
• Fluent in one or more of shell scripting, PowerShell, Python, and Go
• Exposure to kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Familiarity with basics of observability and experience using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus is a bonus

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
• Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
