The role of the Resident Strategy Lead (prefer candidates from Austin, TX or Chicago, IL) is to work within Hanger Clinic's Department of Clinical and Scientific Affairs to guide strategy and implementation to the approach to development and growth of early clinician graduates. There is an expectation of utilizing a systematic, evidence-based approach to assess current education and training models through hypothesis-driven research and analysis of resident and clinician performance data, with the goal of continuously improving instructional strategies and learning outcomes.
Your Impact
Strategic Program Design & Leadership
Long-term Residency Strategy: Develop a residency program that not only meets accrediting standards but also serves as a pipeline for talent development and leadership within the organization.
- Strategic Partnerships: Forge alliances with academic institutions, research bodies, and clinical sites to enhance the residency experience and expand opportunities for residents including forming a resident research network to accelerate large scale research in O&P.
Advanced Data Analytics & Research
- Outcome Measurement Framework: Build and maintain a sophisticated analytics system to track resident performance, satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and career progression.
- Research & Development Integration: Collaborate with research teams to incorporate cutting-edge findings and evidence-based practices into residency training. Participate in research grants to leverage and activate the resident research network.
Talent Cultivation & Leadership Development
- High-Impact Talent Programs: Implement initiatives aimed at identifying high-potential residents and providing them with leadership development opportunities within the organization.
- Mentorship Networks: Develop and maintain a network of highly skilled mentors across various disciplines and locations, providing residents with top-tier guidance.
Strategic Communication & Reporting
- Executive-Level Reporting: Provide comprehensive reports to executive leadership detailing program impact, growth opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
- National Presence: Position the residency program as a gold-standard model in the field through thought leadership, research publications, and conference presentations.
Candidate Identification and Placement
- Identification of Candidates: Build a clear expectation for field talent and residency liaisons to identify and rank candidates that are currently in school.
- Program Placement: Develop guidelines for effective resident placement based on skill and talent matching between resident and site. Additionally, utilizing an evidence-based, analytical approach, determine new factors and criteria for residency placement to facilitate high level retention of residents as Hanger clinicians after residency completion.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum
- MS or equivalent degree, preferably with coursework in the following areas: mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, biomechanics, kinesiology, public health and/or clinical research administration;
- 8+ years' experience in clinician/resident/education
- 5+ years' experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics profession
- Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
Preferred
- PhD or EdD, preferably with coursework in the following areas: mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, biomechanics, kinesiology, public health and/or clinical research administration
- Given the high expectation for grant activity and manuscript publication, it is favorable for candidate to have prior experience with grant activity (preferably with prior grants serving as PI or co-PI) and peer-reviewed publication track record
- Supervisory experience preferred

- Knowledge of the orthotic and prosthetic profession with deep understanding of residency standards published by the industry credentialing associations (i.e., NCOPE, CAAHEP) as well as clinician standards (i.e., ABC)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite programs (i.e. presentation software, pivot tables, formulas, and macros)
- Evidence of written skills through publication
