What You Will Do:

As the Gas Control Supervisor, you will play an essential role within our Gas Control department, reporting to Transmission Operations Manager. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



  • Directing gas controllers in the operation and control of the gas transmission system, including operations, gas balancing, industrial/commercial transports, compression facilities, pipeline coordination/planning, and SCADA system monitoring.
  • Responsible for gas control personnel in scheduling and dispatching of daily work orders, routing, operations and maintenance activities, coordination with other departments, emergency calls and emergency response for transmission & distribution system emergencies, customer emergencies, leak investigation, emergency response support, and off-hours dispatching of crews.
  • Works with the Systems Engineer on SCADA system projects, upgrades, maintenance, and other SCADA functions.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Manager Pipelines, supports the Engineering Department with long and short term resource and strategy planning, project development, cost-benefit analysis, and other operational strategic/financial analysis and support.
  • Developing, supporting, and implementing departmental procedures and standards, provide technical advice, training, and/or supervision to staff, in coordination with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Initiating and maintaining contact with gas producers, gas marketers, utilities, and major customers to allow for smooth operation of the transmission and distribution systems.
  • Involved in emergency planning and emergency coordination with local utilities, private, public, and governmental agencies. Emergency planning efforts include redundancy and reliability measures, alternatives, resource planning, and coordinated planning efforts with non-local utilities.
  • Acts as a super user of the Aligne Gas Ops/Pipe Ops software system to track nominations, actuals, and allocations data, including reporting, customer interface, training, and day-to-day functions.
  • Oversees and is responsible for the Control Room Management Plan and Alarm Management Plan, ensuring compliance and safe and prudent operations.


What You Will Bring:

Required Qualifications



  • 3-5 years gas/pipeline/utility industry experience and supervising support staff functions.
  • 2-4 year technical degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in gas balancing, operational dispatching, pipeline operations or equivalent.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively: perform the job functions and requirements, to communicate with the public, contractors, governmental agencies and representatives, work with other company departments and department personnel to accomplish company objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form and to effectively utilize current technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills.


Preferred skills and qualifications:



  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff and contractors; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others.
  • Practical knowledge of pipeline operations, application of Boyles/Charles gas laws, development of gas models for gas balancing, gas measurement and application of electronic instruments.
  • Ability to lead and motivate employees.
  • Must be detail oriented; superior organizational, information management and follow-up skills.
  • Good understanding of departmental policies and procedures and how they relate to the goals of the Company.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively understand and communicate policies and procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of SCADA system configuration and operation.
