Function:

Environmental, Health & Safety Job Summary:Through the CFI EHSS Department, this position is responsible for providing day-to-day support to Operations, Maintenance, and the contractor workforce by implementing specific Health & Safety programs by providing coaching on hazard identification risk assessment, incident investigations and prevention, conducting observations, safety compliance, providing information on safety management systems, and other general safety and health tasks. Must be able to maintain a strong working knowledge of a wide variety of safety regulations and issues and perform tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and develop similar understanding of and for compliance with CFI Company standards. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following. Job Description:

Responsibilities

* Promote safe work practices and conditions within the complex by coaching employees (i.e., using communication skills, mentoring, developing trust, etc.). Retain an overall understanding of the processes and regulatory safety requirements and foster a working relationship with facility employees to assist in compliance with requirements.

* Collect safety suggestions in the field. Assist the EHSS Department in providing a timely response to employee safety suggestions and concerns.

* Fosters discussion and feedback from assigned areas on possible new safety programs and initiatives.

* Assist with development of new, and revision of current, EHSS procedures to provide a safe work environment for employees. Provide feedback to EHSS Department contacts.

* Assist plant supervision/management in addressing safety concerns and implementing acceptable safety practices/conditions.

* Assist in initiating appropriate controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) to reduce hazard exposure to the lowest levels feasible.

* Participate in Job Hazard/Safety Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) that are completed in assigned areas to help ensure safety issues are identified and addressed.

* Research and recommend resources/equipment to ensure compliance of facility safety programs (i.e., PPE, tools, equipment, etc.).

* Through personal contacts with plant employees (e.g., hold/attend morning safety discussions, interact with small work groups, conduct EHS training sessions, etc.), ensure employees have the skills, knowledge, and training to effectively implement the corporate and facility EHSS policies.

* Monitors daily plant activities to assist with questions or concerns.

* Review and provide oversight of regulatory requirements ensuring compliance with existing regulations and Company initiatives and standards dealing with safety for the complex. Collect and assess data on safety program effectiveness.

* Instruct and consult on high-risk field permitting activities and provide information on safety related field activities.

* Identify safety risks and lead the development of control measures to minimize hazards.

* Perform regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, work areas, and practices. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and address any non-compliance issues promptly. Regular review of permits including on-site review for accuracy and compliance.

* Provide coaching, guidance and support on hazard identification, risk prevention and mitigation, safety regulations and policies to promote safe work practices and conditions.

* Conduct safety training or education programs ensuring employees have the skills, knowledge, and training to effectively implement corporate and EHS policies.

* Provide support to industrial hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, personal and continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos abatement plans.

* Conduct meetings, routine safety walks, and field safety audits and inspections.

* Champion safety operational excellence including implementing established safety procedures and protocols for each job, identifying hazards or incidents, and communicating findings using established procedures.

* Understand and comply with established processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of management internal controls deficiencies.

* Assist in implementation of the industrial hygiene exposure monitoring program for the designated areas of the complex.

* Responsible for contacting field environmental coordinator for assistance related to environmental matters encountered on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

* Experience with health, safety, hygiene, and environmental standards and their application in the field.

* Experience with safety audits and inspections.

* Strong knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety standards.

* Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead training sessions and foster a positive safety culture.

* Working understanding of chemical operations, safety systems, and H&S metrics.

* Strong time management and organizational skills; including the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks with competing demands

* Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local standards, codes, regulations, and laws

* Meet position Fit-for-Duty requirements

* Maintain/carry current TWIC card and valid Driver's License

Work Experience, Education, and Certifications (preferred)

* 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in Occupational Safety and Health,

* 4-year or 2-year degree in OSH from an accredited institution,

* Safety-related Certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, COSS, CIH, etc.
