PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As a Roadmaster you will directly provide and ensure oversight and compliance with corporate policy and regulatory engineering standards. Provide leadership accountability for input/output of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics. Ensures the application of CPKC safety practices, policies and procedures by all direct union reports.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Directs, coordinates, and/or implements emergency response to service interruptions and implement seasonal plans
  • Leads Union employees within the terms of the Collective Agreement and assists in handling corrective actions, disputes and grievances
  • Accountable for current year execution and provides information, recommendations, and validation for scope of work documents, annual/multi-year capital planning priorities
  • Provide oversight of engineering materials and accurate inventory
  • Ensure CPKC is aligned with all FRA regulatory processes

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • 5 years' proven experience in track maintenance & renewal
  • 2 years' experience leading Track Renewal crews such as Rail Tie crews
  • Complete understanding of Railway Track Safety Rules
  • Knowledge and full comprehension of Collective Agreement language
  • People leadership

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
