Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD

Security Clearance Requirement: Top Secret

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will support the Navy's E-130J Program (PMA-271 TACAMO), an ACAT I program in early development, by applying established systems engineering practices and emerging digital engineering technologies. This role supports IPT lead engineers across all phases of development, acquisition, modernization, and sustainment. Limited telework is available; regular on-site presence is required.

The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in defining system requirements, conducting design trade studies, producing engineering documentation, and supporting the development of mission systems architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements development and traceability to the Capability Development Document (CDD) and CJCS OPORD 2-CY18 CONOPS.
  • Develop and maintain key engineering documents, including Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs) and Requirements Management Plans (RMPs).
  • Monitor critical engineering inputs and ensure alignment with the Integrated Government Schedule (IGS).
  • Facilitate engineering meetings, document meeting minutes, manage schedules, and oversee risk management activities.
  • Support or lead efforts in requirements definition, analysis, verification, and architectural design.
  • Review and monitor engineering documentation and technical artifacts throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs) and Program Management Reviews (PMRs).
  • Conduct functional and timeline analyses, as well as trade studies, to translate customer requirements into viable technical solutions that meet cost, schedule, and exportability constraints.
  • Deliver clear and concise technical presentations to stakeholders within the NAVAIR program office environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet program needs.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, required
  • 10 years of related systems engineering experience with at least 5 years of experience working with NAVAIR, required.
  • Familiarity with Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) processes.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Security Clearance Requirement:

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary Range:

  • The estimated salary range for this position will be $175,000 - $185,000 annually, based on an individual's level of experience and skill set. It is our goal at ASEC to provide equitable compensation to all employees.
