Job Overview

The Patient Registration Representative provides administrative support and high-level customer service support to patients, families, internal team members, providers and referring practices in admission, registration, insurance management functions, and check in/check out.Supports departmental and organizational goals including pre-service collections registration quality and patient family experience.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - High School Diploma or GED
  • EXPERIENCE - One (1) year of healthcare and/or administrative/customer service experience
  • EQUIVALENCY - A relevant associate or bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.


Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • No direct patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Provides patient support services which may include registration, scheduling, patient greeting and providing directions, patient check in/out and follow-up visit support.
  • Provides customer service support and assistance to patients, families, physicians and other internal/external customers.
  • Supports health insurance management functions by collecting patient insurance information, documenting the patient's method of payment and/or collecting payment financial responsibility. May also include supporting referrals and pre-authorizations and benefits/eligibility determinations.
  • Ensures patients are informed of benefits and associated costs by creating and communicating personalized estimates of financial responsibility.
  • Provides and obtains signatures for the appropriate treatment consent forms from patients/families. Maintains current understanding of patient access policies, state laws and regulations including acknowledgement documents, legal guardian verification and consent collection.
  • Obtains and documents patient demographic information.
  • Receives patient calls or inquiries to schedule appointments, complete registration functions and route calls as appropriate.
  • Performs data entry functions, including entering patient demographic information and patient updates in a medical records system.
  • Conducts patient and family rounding to ensure patient's/family's comfort level.
  • Utilizes and remains up to date with department office operations and established policies and procedures.

  • Guidelines: Developmental, standard, or intermediate level. Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $20.14 to $30.21
