Position Summary:
The General Accounting & Finance Intern will primarily assist the Controllers of the Hospital and Schools of Medicine with the preparation of certain audited financial statement disclosures. The intern will review the financial statements of our organization as well as our national and local competitors to prepare comparative analyses of financial statement disclosures. The intern will also prepare internal documents to assist with and create efficiencies in the NYU Langone staffs preparation of the financial statements and monthly executive reporting. Further, the intern will perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on a month over month basis in order to ensure that transactions have been recorded appropriately. These tasks have been designed for the intern to gain exposure to the financial reporting function of the organization and learn key financial reporting disclosures. Other financial reporting projects will be assigned on an ad hoc basis.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting
o Work with the financial reporting teams to create the Executive Financial Statement document that is shared with senior leadership
This includes analyzing the results of each business unit every month
Preparing and tying out the financial statements
Identifying trends and outlier items at each of the hospital sites and school missions
o Create comparative analysis of competitors financial statements disclosures
Compare new or changing financial statement disclosures
Assist in drafting financial statements disclosures of new or changing U.S GAAP
o Tie out of financial reporting materials as needed internal financial statements, MD&A, Executive Finance Summary
o Organization of financial statement supporting files
Gift Accounting
o Review of endowment agreements to ensure that restrictions are being met and that the fund balances are released accordingly
o Project management tracking
Corporate accounting
o Review of internal revenue and expenses this includes preparation of work flow and reconciliation for elimination
o Monthly tie out of lease incentives for proper treatment within amortization schedules

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Currently enrolled in a 4 year University taking Finance related classes

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50 - $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
