Overview

Flatiron Dragados USA, Inc. seeks Project Engineer, Construction. This is a full-time role. The Project Engineer, Construction will provide support to mega civil infrastructure construction projects by assisting in the planning and coordination of construction project organization, scheduling, and implementation on projects valued at over $100 million to ensure project completion in a technically sound manner which complies with contractual specifications. What you will be doing

    Plan, manage and coordinate construction activities on projects valued at over $100 million. This includes:
  1. Schedule and monitor project activities to ensure timely completion, including follow-up with external suppliers to ensure prompt responses to action items.
  2. Oversee the performance of subcontractors and negotiate and manage subcontractor contract terms and change orders, ensuring that project specifications are met, technical requirements are satisfied, and work is completed as required.
  3. Develop and maintain bill of materials based on project specifications, ensuring that all project needs are accurately represented.
  4. Review and evaluate technical specifications to make informed and technically sound decisions regarding resolution of construction issues. This includes:
    1. Review issues related to technical specifications and blueprints, ensuring alignment with project requirements, and negotiating resolution of technical specifications issues as needed.
    2. Analyze project drawings to identify potential conflicts or delays, propose preventative measures, and ensure adherence to construction schedules.
  5. Manage construction project communications with key stakeholders (e.g., contractors, client, design engineers) with respect to key project aspects under Project Engineer's charge. This includes:
    1. Lead project meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., owners, foremen, contractors, supervisors) to gather and disseminate project-related information relating to ongoing progress, scheduling, construction issues, variances, and technical challenges, ensuring clear and effective communication. This includes coordinating responses to Requests for Information (RFI).
    2. Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between internal teams and the project owner, ensuring that all parties have accurate and timely access to accurate technical information relevant to project progress.
  6. Conduct cost estimation and financial analysis on infrastructure projects valued at over $100 million. This includes:
    1. Evaluate and revise supplier quotations by analyzing cost standards and technical information from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design departments to develop accurate cost estimates and ensure alignment with project objectives.
    2. Verify and ensure that project charges are correctly represented for the accounting closing process and assess the accuracy of these charges during financial evaluations.
    3. Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support operational and technical decisions.

No travel required.



What we are looking for

Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent) and 36 months (3 years) of experience in any occupations in which required experiences were acquired. Professional experience must include:

  • 3 years of experience working in civil infrastructure project engineering and/or construction management on construction projects valued at over $50 million.
  • Experience negotiating and managing subcontractor contracts and change orders on large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience in cost estimation and financial analysis on construction projects valued at over $50 million, including preparing bills of materials, reviewing supplier quotations, verifying variances from budgets, and conducting cost-benefit analyses to support operational decisions.
  • Experience using construction project management software (Procore, Primavera or similar software) to prepare project schedules and analyze cost versus bid performance on largescale construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating responses to Requests for Information on large scale construction projects.
