Job Description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is seeking quality candidates to fill the role of Project Development Specialist for the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory. This role provides essential assistance to the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory through a variety of duties, including:

  • Assisting the laboratory with financial matters like planning and tracking budgets, providing financial reports, performing expense transfers, and tracking invoices and payments of laboratory contracts
  • Assisting with administrative tasks required to hire students, postdocs, research technicians, and visiting scholars
  • Working with EMC lab faculty and the Office of Sponsored Programs to help set up new funded contracts or submit funding proposals
  • Processing consultant contracts and independent contractor requests
  • Assisting with the organization and delivery of the bi-annual meeting of the NSF Center for EMC.
  • Collecting data required to report Center for EMC activities to its members and to NSF
  • Serving as the first point-of-contact for all students and visitors when arriving at the lab
  • Processing consultant contracts and independent contractor requests
  • Processing purchase orders, Non P.O. Vouchers, Requisitions and Wire Transfers
  • Managing keys for the building
  • Moderating email accounts, phone lines, and reserving lab rooms and equipment
  • Purchasing lab supplies
  • Assisting with maintenance of lab and center websites
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge & experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, PeopleSoft or similar software.
  • Knowledge & experience with management of project budgets, particularly within the UM System.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, courtesy, diplomacy and a cooperative attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.71 to $30.29 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
