A day in the life...

Russell Stover Chocolates is looking to hire a Senior Accountant! In this role, you will play a key role in the month end close process and in supporting Financial Reporting to Management. You will also be involved in Compliance Reporting with States and Counties and Internal controls. You will report to the Assistant Controller, and you will interact frequently with other members of Accounting/Finance such as AR Manager, AP Manager, Controller, Sales and Operations Finance and CFO.

What you will be doing...

• Ownership of key financial processes
• Participation in accounting special projects
• Completion of monthly closing procedures including monthly account reconciliations, journal entries and reporting to Group
• Annual filings for Licenses and Permits at Retail Stores and Factories
• Providing support to 3rd Party Tax Firm for Sales, Use and Property Taxes
• Internal controls documentation
• Collaborating with other departments for process improvement
• Perform complex accounting tasks and assume a leadership role of key accounting processes
• Lead staff accountants. (Review, coach and develop)
• Analyze financial data and reporting
• Providing support and involvement on external audit
• Any other necessary duties assigned

• Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines during plant visits to support product quality and uphold food safety standards.
• Complete and follow FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and support the company's food safety and quality objectives.

• Promptly report any observed or suspected issues that may impact food safety, quality, or compliance to the designated plant personnel, to support timely corrective actions and maintain compliance.
• Actively contributes to the continuous improvement of the company's Food Safety Culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role.

(Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar field of study
• 4+ years experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles
• Strong Excel skills
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Great communication skills
• Team player
• Strong analytical skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to mentor associate accountants

(Preferred Qualifications)

• CPA
• Master's degree in accounting or similar field
• Experience working in an ERP system (SAP S/4)
• Business Intelligence or analytical tools
