About the Position: The Buyer Supervisor assures manufacturing receives quality parts/services on-time to the point-of-use, performs specialized duties associated with the purchase, delivery, quality, and packaging of materials, equipment and services for the company's manufacturing and engineering operations, coordinates material flow, conversion of vendors to Genie material management systems, and timely distribution of materials. Responsibilities: Responsibilities will be dependent on business needs and might be tailored to individual strengths and interests. However, you can expect to -
- Research, compile data, and prepare specifications for a full array of parts, components materials, and supplies used for production
- Research, contact, and select potential vendors and receive proposals for price, quality, and timeliness of delivery, make independent judgement on purchases up to authorized dollar limits and specifications,recommend current and/or new vendors, convey delivery, inventory, and quality goals to vendors
- Coordinate with other operating units to consolidate vendor agreements, arrangements, and schedules. Study production cycles and material usage of other operating divisions to support consolidation proposals
- Establishe and communicate manufacturing projections and receiving patterns so that vendors can anticipate needs and meet requirements. Learns vendor cycles and procedures to optimize delivery time.
- Work closely with engineering and sales to identify engineering change notices. Contacts vendors to adjust delivery in support of changes.
- Procure urgent materials through the most effective means, considering quality, availability, cost, delivery time, and probability of continued support
- Facilitate discussions with other materials team members to evaluate purchasing agreements and contracts, recommend changes and consolidations that contribute to manufacturing's requirements and support just-in-time philosophy
Required Qualifications:
- CPM designation
- Requires a Bachelors Degree in a business or engineering field and three years technical purchasing and product/vendor selection experience encompassing a wide variety of categories of goods and services for a manufacturing environment. Alternatively, requires an Associates Degree and six years of experience. Special experience and/or training is required in just-in-time, total quality management, KanBan, single piece flow, and Lean Thinking.

- Experience in manufacturing
- Experience in sales or customer service
- Business educational background and understanding in marketing, finance, economics, etc.
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications
- Action oriented and strong follow-up
- Positive, can-do attitude; self-starter
- Attention to detail
Salary Range:
- The salary range for this position is $88,000 to $98,000 USD. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a 6% performance bonus. Compensation changes throughout/at end of program provided meeting performance expectations.
