Summary

The Respiratory/HME Liaison Assistant supports all aspects of Johns Hopkins Community Health's (JHCH) home care coordination. This role requires a strong understanding of home care products and services, as well as available community resources. The Liaison serves as a key resource for hospital staff during home care planning, helping ensure seamless continuity of care for patients referred for respiratory and HME (Home Medical Equipment) services.

Responsibilities include equipment distribution, patient education on proper use, and support for reimbursement processes. The Liaison excels in interviewing, demonstrates diplomacy in interactions, and possesses in-depth knowledge of community-based services to help sustain and grow programs within assigned facilities.

Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of medical terminology and be well-versed in agency policies, federal and state regulations, and third-party reimbursement procedures related to Durable Medical Equipment (DME). They should bring strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills-both written and verbal-and be capable of working independently in dynamic or unstructured settings. A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to patients, hospital staff, and external partners is essential. The role also requires flexibility and reliability in traveling between inpatient and outpatient hospital locations.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience





  • One to two years of data entry experience required



  • One to two years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting is preferred

Salary Range: Minimum 18.00/hour - Maximum 26.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
