DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for evaluating and determining individuals' eligibility for various benefits that help offset the costs of home, healthcare, and related maintenance services. Your duties will include supervising a team of clerical and technical reimbursement staff; assessing individuals' financial responsibility for care services; analyzing financial resources to determine benefit eligibility; and calculating costs based on levels of care to support facility budget planning. You will also manage billing and collections from multiple healthcare funding sources, including Medicare and Medicaid; ensure proper deposit of funds into state and federal accounts; and serve as the administrator for residents' estates. Additionally, this role may involve overseeing clerical staff involved in admissions, discharges, and data processing functions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Facility Reimbursement Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of experience involving public contact work in billing and collecting financial accounts or debts; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Completion of college-level work with major course work in business administration, finance, accounting, health care management, or a related field may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements:

  • All positions in the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs require valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
