Overview

The Credit Analyst is responsible for developing relationships with customers (internal and external), applying credit policies and pursuing payment collection (including legal resources) within a commercial collections work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Expected to communicate regularly with management with regards to workload, productivity, and any other needs in order to efficiently and effectively execute the essential functions of the job.
  • Ensure that the corporate credit policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence to all SOP (standard operating procedures), with the expectation that any suspicious activities and/or non-compliant behaviors are reported immediately to the CFO.
  • Perform collections activities for accounts within a specified portfolio.
  • Update credit files for existing customers and process new credit applications.
  • Research and resolve short pays and deductions.
  • Resolve customer disputes and collection issues timely.
  • Handle credit references. Assist with research of customer payment problems.
  • Monitor credit and collection status of assigned customers and set appropriate credit limits.
  • Educate customers on company products, services and options for payment to include CAT Card and the customer portal.
  • Determine release of orders based on customer credit status.
  • Communicate effectively with salespeople and departmental groups regarding customer status and relationships.
  • Contracts and purchase orders are received, ensure they are forwarded to the proper department for review.
  • Responsible for managing communications on customer accounts that have gone legal, ensuring management is kept up to date with all developments on the case.
  • Manage third party billing platforms (customer platforms) to ensure we are paid appropriately for all invoices.
  • Answer calls from Credit Hunt (internal and external routed calls to the credit department) and work the credit email box during scheduled times.
  • Participate in periodic joint sales calls with Blanchard's sales team, ensuring exceptional service is provided to all members.
  • Meet with customers as needed, under the supervision of a member of management.
  • Backup for switchboard as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors in business administration, Finance or Accounting preferred, with 3+ years related commercial credit experience; or Associates degree with equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Consumer or Commercial Credit, with experience in the Construction industry preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws regarding the obtaining and usage of information needed for credit decisions preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry specific risk mitigation tools, multi-state mechanics lien law and payment bonds strongly preferred.
  • Uses experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Organization and time management skills with a strong ability to prioritize heavy individual
    workload to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated professional, tactful problem-solving skills with personal presence to interface with corporate decision makers.
  • Ability to compile, analyze and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
  • Proficient in MS Office with emphasis in Excel.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a high paced, high demand environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work extended hours as the business need requires.
  • Possess a personal commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
